The Gospel Waltz
Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church · Documentary Film
The Story
The work was to make enough room for the subject to arrive honestly. Production became less about gathering material and more about learning where attention belonged.

What We Discovered
The outsized impact of a man's life, when led intentionally, is reflected by the echoes of his teachings, and the truth which he shared.
Each subject gave testimony to how this pastor was more than a pastor, but a teacher, mentor, leader, and friend.

Observation
Archival material was intercut with story-relevant b-roll establishing place, history, and characters.
Pacing
The edit complemented the energy. The film moved in three parts, much like a waltz — following the music — inviting the viewer to dance along.
Finish
Color and sound were kept natural, removing distraction so the audience could remain with the story.
Outcome
The most meaningful response was not a number. It was recognition—viewers seeing the subject, and then seeing something of themselves.
Release
community screenings
Audience
A community seeing a chapter close, and another begin.
Impact
A story that looked toward the future, while reflecting on its past.
Field Note
We'd love to hear it.
